– BALLSTON SPA, NY
Team 2791, Team 20 (Clifton Park, NY) and Team 6484 (Greenwich, NY) teamed up for elimination and final rounds to win one of the region’s most popular off-season robotics tournaments, Robot Rumble. The event, held at Ballston Spa High School, drew 24 teams from CT, MA, VT and of course, NY. Shaker Robotics started the day ranked #1, dipped down to #6, but rose again to #1 in time for alliance selections.
Shaker’s robot, which traveled to Detroit last spring to participate in the national championship event, performed well throughout the day. Last year’s drivers have both graduated and area attending college, so it was a great opportunity for our new drivers to experience the pressure of a live competition.
In addition to the robotics competition, teams donated a large amount of canned and dry goods to the food pantry at the Malta Community Center.
The event is in its fourth year, and has been supported annually by the Global Foundries/Town of Malta Foundation and Ballston Spa Central School District. Volunteers and organizers from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute FIRST Robotics Competition also support the event.
