Shaker Robotics is going to worlds!
April 1, 2023 – Albany, NY
Congratulations are in order! This past weekend Shaker Robotics competed against 47 other teams at the NY Tech Valley Regional (NYTVR). Shaker Robotics was awarded the Excellence in Engineering Award. This award celebrates a team that demonstrates a professional approach to the design process. After being a finalist at NYTVR the team received a wildcard qualifying them to compete at the FRC World Championships in Houston, Texas.
As you can imagine there is a lot of excitement from both the students and the mentors regarding the invitation to Championships, where they will compete against teams from all over the world. The reality of transporting students, mentors, a robot, and support equipment 1,800 miles to Houston has hit, and the team needs to raise the funds to compete. Please help us send our team to Houston so that our students can experience the culmination of their hard work and efforts! Tax deductible donations can be made via www.team2791.org/donate/ or from our crowdfunding campaign https://givebutter.com/FummIS. You may contact the team at team2791@gmail.com for more information.
Please follow us on our Facebook Shaker Robotics-Team 2791 or Instagram at frc2791 to stay up to date on our progress at Championships!
Shaker Robotics wins 2019 Robot Rumble trophy
October 26, 2019 – BALLSTON SPA, NY
Team 2791, Team 20 (Clifton Park, NY) and Team 6484 (Greenwich, NY) teamed up for elimination and final rounds to win one of the region’s most popular off-season robotics tournaments, Robot Rumble. The event, held at Ballston Spa High School, drew 24 teams from CT, MA, VT and of course, NY. Shaker Robotics started the day ranked #1, dipped down to #6, but rose again to #1 in time for alliance selections.
Shaker’s robot, which traveled to Detroit last spring to participate in the national championship event, performed well throughout the day. Last year’s drivers have both graduated and area attending college, so it was a great opportunity for our new drivers to experience the pressure of a live competition.
In addition to the robotics competition, teams donated a large amount of canned and dry goods to the food pantry at the Malta Community Center.
The event is in its fourth year, and has been supported annually by the Global Foundries/Town of Malta Foundation and Ballston Spa Central School District. Volunteers and organizers from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute FIRST Robotics Competition also support the event.
